  • I can’t remember the last time I clicked a banner ad (have I ever?). I can say that I click text links within good content all the time.

    • Jill

Boom! Point proven ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Donnie!

  • I think you should have a bunch of Clickbank products scrolling down with your posts. Only joking.. When I started online I tried to sell a Mafia Wars eBooks. Amateur mistake. Lessons have been learned!

    • Jill

      LOL Mafia Wars! How random!

And good call on the CB scrolls…why didn’t we think of that? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Jill,

Thanks for this post, this is some great advice. I haven’t started my affiliate site just yet cause I want to improve my writing skills. I’m glad that I decided to do some reading on how to be a good copywriter before starting my affiliate site cause it’s the words that sell unless you have some great products that sell themselves. My site would have read desperate and boring, lol.

I love rule #1 Only Promote the Best Products, I hope you don’t mind if I add to this. “It’s your site, so you should love and be excited about the products your promoting, be an expert about the products and talk enthusiastically about them”. It’s what usually prompts me to spend money.

Thanks again guys for great information. Have a beautiful birthday tomorrow Josh!

Nice Diana! Happy to hear you’re taking steps towards setting them up!

Speaking of copywriting…I really dig the book Words That Sell. It’s got some great advice and is a wonderful resource for wording alternatives ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Diana

Thanks Jill, I will check that book out!

    Jill and Josh,
I love your three rules. Really boils it down well.

Currently I am in a marketing 9-5er job and one of my secrets when I write is to focus on benefits not features. Features are not enough in and of themselves to make that spark or connection between the MWR (most wanted response) and your product or service…But give someone the answer to “how does that help, please or satisfy my yearning?” by giving them a true benefit of what you are offering.

    That is true pre-selling.

    Martin

    • Jill

Nice Martin! Thanks for adding that in…it’s absolutely a fantastic way to pre-sell. I just actually read about that when brushing up on copywriting skills for our sales page for an upcoming product. Glad to hear the guy writing it wasn’t blowing smoke ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Ail

Cutest intro! You guys are the happiest / cutest couple around!

HI Josh and Jill( AKA Josh)

I really love your approach :-))
I am about to launch my website for my make-up & skincare business here in Australia and the call to action in text links really makes sense. I am busy working with the developers today placing these links around the site.

    All the best Ty

    • Jill

Nice Ty! We’re happy to hear the video was of use to you ๐Ÿ™‚

And congrats on getting the site up and running…keep us in the loop with how it all goes for you!
