A Little Bit About this Episode:

Let's get real for a minute…

When we first launched the Screw, the majority of our traffic was not our ideal customer. In fact, it consisted mainly of our family, close friends and a few Facebook followers.

And while they were nice to have around the place, they didn't exactly make for the best customers.

Now I'll be honest, learning how to navigate the inter-web waters was tricky…and may have even included a few demonstrative hand gestures, face palms, and angry typing.

Because let's face it, when you're first starting out traffic can be super hard to come by.

And that's frustrating.

So how did we power through those first few months where it felt like no one was listening or even cared about what we were doing?

We cowboy'd up.

We tested out a ton of strategies, cut whatever didn't work, and amped up what did.

But what are the strategies that worked?

Pffft I'm not just going to give that shit away! Click play and find out for yourself.

And then implement, homie!

  • You two are cute! Love the matching shirts 😉 Great golden nuggets in this one! Love the tip about guest posts! Priceless!

I cannot believe we didn’t even realize we were twinsies in this until the video was edited! lol

  • Hi Jill and Josh , many thanks for the tips , i have a lead page here , http://www.house-of-olifiers.com/worldwidebrands.html do let me know how to improve this as a way to get leads and hits ? as i am trying to get an income growing from their products and services ,many thanks cheers Theo
PS currently stuck in the 8-5 slot, and going backwards , working from home is a grand idea, being a cad guy , when you can find the projects to work on, so you are not driving all over this city to get to someone elses office, but sometimes it puts the squeeze on you and you wonder what am i doing, fighting my way out of a hole , and going deeper ! , especially when the bank is looking at you to pay your house by the due dates ouch !
looking for ways out, is not a easy road, you get a bit beat up along the way, patience i suspect.

    • Hey Theo,

I’m confused that page you linked isn’t a landing page – it’s a page with a ton of text, links, and options – is that the one you meant to link to??

  • Hey guys, I really enjoyed your video and your lovely interactions with each other. I was just looking up in the DC member directory to see who is in the Toronto area – I’m coming up for TIFF (year #5 in a row). Are you based in Toronto? Do you do Juntos or meet-ups? Love to meet you if possible. Cheers!

    • Hey Farnoosh!

Great to see you around these parts 🙂

We’re actually no longer in TO – we’re in Chiang Mai, Thailand right now. Such a bummer, as it would be so fun to meet! I follow your stuff online and just love what you’re all about!

As for TIFF – be sure you go to Hemmingways! Love that spot (and Yorkville, in general!) around that time of year 🙂

Will you be hitting up DCBKK at all?

      • Oh wow, Chiang Mai 🙂 ! Thank you so much for the kind words, Jill and you now what/ We are DEFINITELY coming to DCBKK – we are booked and will be hitting Europe before and after the event. We are huge world travel junkies …. although we haven’t yet set foot on Thailand. Thanks for the recommendation for TIFF planning. I LOVE Toronto. It’s magical in September. Sending you a big hug. See you in October then? 🙂

        • YES! *fist pump* So happy to hear you will be there…we will have to have a glass (or two *wink* ) of wine and chat 🙂

And you will definitely have to check out Thailand at some point – it’s got such a cool vibe and the people are amazing!!

  • Hi Jill yes thats the page, may be you better explain to me how a landing page should be, sounds like i need a lesson in how to do it properly thanks for quick reply cheers Theo

  • Great video guys! Loved it. Awesome advice – thanks a bunch! Hope all is well for both of you over seas!

    Good stuff here!

Love the first two techniques but as for fb ads, I’m not a fan plus it’s not cheap for newbies to use.
